Day 3 – PKRA – Movistar Kiteboarding World Cup 2007

A much anticipated third day of the Movistar Kiteboarding World Cup 2007 in Matanzas, Chile kicked off but the side-shore winds coming from the south-south west started out lighter than expected. The mandatory skippers meeting started at approximately 12:00pm but with the wind still below PKRA standards so the race director announced a series of wind delay notices.
Finally at 15:00h, the 20-knot wind was strong enough and provided good surf creating 3-meter waves which set the stage for some non-stop kiteboarding action. There were clear sunny skies throughout the day with the temperature peaking at 15° Celsius but felt like it was much colder.

The event started with four heats of the Wave competition dubbed “Expression Session” to decide on the seeding. The wave heats ran 20-minute sessions and a 3-minute transition period with 6 competitors for every heat where the eight top riders would be seeded in the main vent.
Results are being kept secret until tomorrow morning when the race director will create the competition ladder for the wave competitors.
