I would - for sure/no question - mandate lessons ..BUT, rather than the package deals, I would get private/semi-private. Do it with a friend, so you can learn for a couple of hours..and then the two of you go off to the side and learn the feel of what you were taught. Go back another day for another series to correct your flaws and then advance to the next step. ..and go practice again, etc. You need a friend in the water with you; not only for their eyes but help if needed.

Having done it the hard way, I would contend that the first, best money spent is on a good coach. Pro kiters can make a plastic bag and a 2x6 look good.

I am blown away at these kite companies that say stuff like this.

Which riders will appreciate the Bandit 4 the most? Which ones will appreciate the Revolt?

The Bandit 4 is made for everyone; it’s our main kite.

How can one kite be "FOR EVERYONE"? Someone please explain to me how one kite can be for all riders. Does F-One really think that they are going to make a kite that all freestyle riders and all wave riders will like equally? This will never be the case because a kite that works good for freestyle tricks can not turn and perform the same way a wave rider wants it to.

I also read somewhere that the new Bandit 4 will pivot more. This may work for guys who ride freestyle, but I know as a wave rider I do not want my kite to pivot at all. I want a kite that turns in a smooth arc through the window and does not stop and pivot on its self. A wave kite needs to be an extension of the rider and draw smooth lines through the air the same way the rider does on the water.

Hey Nick
I've just defected from the Cabs to the Fone B3's so aint a great source of B3 knowledge but have a bit over a year of kiting (many different brands)and after 25 years of windsurfing.

My experiance with the B3 bandit is that it will fly quite hapily in just 8 knots but self launching (dry kite) in the same conditions is difficult. If on the water and the kite gets wet - its going to be a whole lot heavier - and will need maybe 12 knots to get it to launch - and thats if you are standing up and not drifting down wind where you may lose another knot or two of launch speed.

When I say fly in 8 knots - I dont mean kiteboard in 8 knots!! - I'm 90 kg and need closer to 12 to 13 knots to get going with the 13m B3.

Hope this helps!!

I am a beginner and just got a 13M B3 for practising after received 6 hours KB instruction. I had my B3 set up last few days and tried out the setting, but got few unusual situations. Firstly, the hardest pumping pressure that I could get was only around 6 or 7 PSI, unlike the 10 PSI recommended in the manual. I flied in low wind conditions (around 10 knots) and the kite did not powered up and the lines were loose. I also tried water auto relaunch but could not get it up. There was a pro kiter on the beach who tried to water relauch my B3 for me but could not make it. He said although he do not use F-one kite before but it is the first time in his life to see a kite cannot be relaunch like this. He then helped me the launch my B3 by assistance.
I am not sure whether it is because of the pump pressure or the lines setting (I used the original line setting come with the kite, then I tried to shorten the back lines, but it didn't help too much and there are higher tendency of flying backwards).

Iv had ups and downs with this kite. Very fast and powerful for looping but on many occasions the kite tangles itself especially in gusty winds when its on the water. And once this kite tangles there is no saving you. Anywone else noticed this problem? Im using extended lines maybe thats why..
