The final day of the Ho’okipa Kite Surf Pro delivered classic Ho’okipa conditions and saw major upsets in the world title race. Event winners and overall KSP World Champions were crowned on Maui’s north shore today.

The PKRA Freestyle World Champion 2010, Australian Andy Yates, recently injured his shoulder while training at home. As a result, Andy won’t be able to compete in the next three events.

The second stage – the finals – will be run by the Kite Surf Pro (KSP), a new tour created by a group of the worlds finest wave riders.

After the last events of the season, the final rankings for 2010 in all disciplines have been published. The overall world cup winners are: Andy Yates / Gisela Pulido (Freestyle), Bruno Sroka / Steph Bridge (Course Racing) and Guilly Brandao / Gisela Pulido (Wave Riding).

Kevin Langeree injured his knee during the final heat at PKRA Fuerteventura.

Langeree was dominating the final heat, but in an attempt to execute a blind judge in gusty, unpredictable 35-40 knots winds, he landed on the chop causing him to twist his knee out of position.

So far, everything going on has only directly affected a small number of competition riders, but what does this all mean for the rest of us?
