Amidst another day of prime wind and waves in Northern Peru, contest directors made excellent use of the epic conditions at the main staging area at El Faro (the lighthouse), completing 18 heats, making it all the way up to the Quarter Finals. After four days of waiting for solid conditions to arrive in Northern Peru, the Pacasmayo Kite Surf Pro finally got underway late this morning. Running nearly until sundown in the 15- to 20-knot winds and five- to seven-foot waves (faces), Men’s and Women’s Round 1, and Men’s Round 2 were completed at the second KSP World Championship Kite Surfing Tour stop.

Despite a favorable forecast, the wind never filled in quite enough to get the Pacasmayo Kite Surf Pro off the ground today. As head-high sets rolled in throughout the morning and afternoon, the KSP crew kept optimistic and re-assessed the conditions every 30 minutes in hopes of the wind ramping up just a notch.
