The AP reports that Branson had to give up his attempt to kitesurf across the English Channel on Tuesday because of rough seas and high winds.

Virgin Active today announces that Sir Richard Branson, who celebrates his 60th birthday this coming Sunday July 18th, will be flying high to celebrate hitting the big six zero by kitesurfing the English channel.

March 21 marked the second time Lake Pontchartrain’s 24 mile stretch was conquered by a local kiteboarder on a mission to create awareness and raise $10,000 for blood cancer research.
