NAISH Mutant
Sizes Available: 5ft 5in
Sizes Tested: 5ft 5in

Naish Says:

New and easy to ride, the Mutant is ideal for strapless or strapped riding in small waves, flat water and light wind conditions. With its wide nose and tail, the compact outline provides early planing and unparalleled light wind performance. Thinned out rails and a relatively low rocker contribute to fast upwind speed, while controlled driving off the front foot and a loose and playful feel make wave riding a breeze.

Our Testers Say:

“An easy start that handles well in light wind.” Rob Shea

“Very wide nose with lots of volume that planes well early and through lulls but can still handle riding powered and carves turns amazingly well.” Dray Murray

Meet the 2016 TKB Test Team.

Tkb Says:

The 2016 Naish Mutant features a super wide width, fat nose and is great for underpowered surfing. The Mutant’s width makes it feel a bit like a course board underfoot with super side-to-side stability. Our editor thinks this board would be perfect for teaching your newbie friends how to master the duck tack. Tkb testers rode this in a surf-setup and noted that although this board has a big wide platform and falls on the stiff side, its rails are still quite easy to control for effortless upwind ability in light wind and for lower skilled riders. The Mutant would be a fun, novel board for a beginner in the surf and would be the ideal choice for someone aiming to take the fast track to mastering their footwork on jibes and tacks. It comes with high quality fins, optional straps and a full deck pad that’s super plush underfoot with a ton of traction. This was a fun board to experiment new strapless moves on if you could manage to pry it out of the hands of the other testers.
