TKB Says:

The 2016 XR4 is a 5-strut medium aspect Delta shaped kite that is marketed as an all around freeride, wakestyle, and wave machine. The XR4 comes with Core’s proprietary large diameter inflation valve which uses the standard pump hose without a nozzle, allowing for simple and quick inflation and deflation. The XR4 has three wingtip settings that allow the rider to adjust the turning speed from medium/wakestyle to super-fast/wave and three settings on the three pulleyed front bridle to set the bar pressure/feedback from medium/super direct to super light/direct. The XR4 has a pivot style turning arc that seems to progressively respond to turning input from the bar. As you apply steering input the speed at which the XR4 turns increases. Testers liked the XR4’s light to medium bar pressure and overall cruisey feel with excellent balance between solid low end pull and good upwind performance. Once you dialed in the timing on the turns the XR4 delivers solid boost and impressive hangtime for some long jumps. Overall, testers recommended this kite as a great all around freeride kite for kiters of all levels.

The XR4 comes with the Sensor 2 bar which features a dual adjustable length bar (46/52 cm) and different line lengths based on bar length (18, 20, 22 or 24m). It comes equipped with a spectra sheeting/throw line, replaceable plastic insert, no sliding stopper, non-molded non removable donkey dick, double center-line safety depower, high V, above bar depower custom Clam cleat with a Velcro tuning handle to keep the depower control toggle from tangling and a twisting quick release with auto swivel that doubles as a quick release guard. With knotted center lines and outside loops, the length of sheeting/throw can be adjusted for varying arm lengths of kiters or the type of riding. The non-molded foam floats are connected to the bar ends with the tips of the bar being hard. The outside leader lines allow riders to adjust the length of the outside lines for stretch or tuning. Testers commented on the overall lightweight of this bar, it’s medium plush stamped grip and it’s small but sufficient bar end winders with non-retractable bungees.
