The KiteFoil Gold Cup will make four tour stops in 2015: La Ventana, Mexico (Playa Central); San Francisco, USA (St. Francis Yacht Club);  Townsville, Australia (Townsville Sailing Club);  and one more European event to be announced later in the season. The tour is run under the guidance of the International Kiteboarding Association (IKA) and Technical Director Robbie Dean.

The first event will kick off March 24 at the KiteFoil GoldCup Mexico, and the tour will certainly be one to watch as the world’s best kite racing competitors push the envelope of foilboard performance and vie for the title of KiteFoil Gold Cup Champion, secured by Johnny Heineken last year.

With over 70 riders from 19 countries participating, rapid development of equipment and raw athleticism enable these kiters to perform at speeds which rival the finest America’s Cup sailing yachts. Californian kiter Joey Pasquali has been training against Oracle’s turbo foiling AC45 in San Francisco Bay and reports, “We’re (foilboards) a touch faster up the track and they’re (AC45 Turbo) a touch faster off the breeze.”
