The 2014 Sculp is a medium aspect 3-strut kite that is billed as CrazyFly’s freeride / freestyle kite. The Sculp comes with the standard 9mm inflation / 11mm dump valve and three wingtip adjustments. Testers found the Sculp to have lighter bar pressure, but good steering response and easy relaunch. The Sculp had excellent low end power while still going upwind relatively well with all around middle of the road jumping performance. Testers recommended this kite for beginner and intermediate kiters as a good freeride and casual freestyle kite.
The Sculp comes with the Sick bar, a fixed length bar (40, 45, 50, or 55cm length) that is built entirely from carbon fiber and is made in the EU. The bar features a plastic push away quick release, above bar Clam Cleat, single center line safety, sliding stopper, comfortable rubber bar ends and an easy to use swivel above the quick release for untwisting center lines. The testers found the stamped grip to have higher density than most and some warned fingers could be pinched at the center of the bar. Some also noted the extra bulk and length of the safety depower line running up the center lines. The chicken loop was easy to reassemble with a guide built into the design, but closing the quick release required some finesse. Overall the bar is lightweight, simple and functional earning praise from our test riders.
