bravel small

Braven Says:

A bomber little portable speaker for the beach or slopes. Rechargeable, connects over Bluetooth (or included headphone cord), weatherproof (IPX5), shock absorbent and works as a speakerphone and phone charger.

TKB Says:

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of portable speakers on the market to choose from these days. A year ago James Brown from our test team was  in the market for something that was affordable and had the features he wanted. Bluetooth syncing was at the top of his list along with good sound of course and long battery life. He ended up with a Creative D100, which met his criteria…at the time. Things have changed though.

A few months ago James received the Braven BRV-1 to test and review for the magazine. Based out of Colorado, James spends a lot of time outdoors around snow, water and sand and so far has been very impressed by the Braven. It is compact enough to bring along in the pocket of his backpack. The sound is perfect for hanging out in the camper and around the campfire. To save battery on his iPhone he’s used the included headphone cord instead of Bluetooth. The only downfall of this setup according to James is that it leaves the ports on the back exposed to the weather. The last time James he went to the lake he put the protective cap on the speaker and just ran it with Bluetooth while at the campfire, which was awesome because he said he didn’t have to worry about it. In fact, he just threw it onto the sand and it played all night thanks to the 12 hour play time. In the morning James said he just swept the sand off of it””no damage done. The case is built tough enough that someone could probably step on it and not hurt it at all. It’s great for the kiteboarding lifestyle and now has replaced his other speaker.
