PKRA Marsala Wraps-up with No Wind and Three Winners

Gisela Pulido won her second consecutive event last week at the PKRA event in Marsala, Italy, while Youri Zoon and Alex Pastor shared the podium for first.

Despite the final the final day of competition being cut short by a lack of wind (leaving single elimination and doubles without finish), the event in Marsala had two days of steady breeze across the flat waters of Stagnone lagoon creating near-perfect freestyle conditions.  Riders kept  audiences entertained with technical moves (the blind judge 5, 317, KGB 5) and dozens of handle passes flawlessly executed.

The atmosphere at the event site was lively, with activities offered to riders and spectators throughout the week.  The evening party at the Floria Winery was a highlight, with DJ’s and dinner.  Italian culture and lifestyle was a perfect match for a high performance kite event.  Riders were mostly stoked with conditions —  only wishing there had been more wind for comebacks in the double.

The next freestyle event will be in Sankt Peter-Ording, Germany on July 12, 2013.  The race for first place for the women is heating up between Gisela and Karolina.  Alex Pastor has dominated this year with Youri Zoon close on his heels. Pastor has not lost a heat in 2013.  Follow the next round of action, live from Germany.
