Best Says:

If your sessions take in unhooked new school, freeride and even some wave riding then the TS is made for you. Built with our Double Core RS canopy fabric the TS v2 delivers amazing crossover performance with the focus firmly on new school and unhooked performance. The 5m and 6m TS sizes are the perfect high wind kites. Their Ride Optimized open-c platform delivers rock solid stability, predictable handling and broad sweet spot to help you conquer any conditions. The 7m – 12m sizes let you express your style in the air and on any wave. Responsive unhooked steering, light bar feel and great jumping ability ensure the TS remains the favorite sizes for new school riding- it’s the most versatile SLE kite in our 2013 line-up. For light wind riding and racing, the 15m and 17m TS kites are the most aerodynamically refined and popular light wind kites we’ve ever made. The largest TS sizes will keep you riding after everyone else has packed up for the day.

Our Testers Say:

“Great hang time, but didn’t feel like it had great low end power. It performed better when ridden hard at the high end of its wind range. Really liked the smooth and soft bar grip,” Dray Murray.

“Fast flying, great all-around kite. Felt very comfortable,” Marko Bartscherer.

“Turns felt slow to initiate but the then the TS delivers a lot of power through turns. Great jumps and I feel this would be a good kite for wakestyle riders,” Joe Bharat.

“Turns were not very direct and it didn’t feel like it had great low-end power (12m),” Davey Beard.

Meet the 2013 TKB Test Team.

TKB Says:

The 2013 Best TS is a medium aspect kite 5-strut kite. The TS V2 features the Best-exclusive Double Core RS canopy fabric. The rear line attachment points are adjustable to change bar pressure and turning speed. Our testers felt the TS had better upwind and jumping performance than the Best Kahoona, but wasn’t as forgiving or as easy to fly.

They also commented that its handling was a little slow but direct and that the TS had a very light feeling in the sky.

The TS uses the Best RP Bar V3. It features a push-away quick release, below-bar swivel, soft ends, adjustable stopper, and an above-bar depower strap. It also features a sacrificial wear insert to prevent depower line wear. Most testers liked the simplicity and feel of the bar but the depower straps can be a bit of a reach for riders with short arms.

Pros:

  • Good upwind and jumping performance.
  • Light feeling in the sky.

Cons:

  • Relatively slow turning.
  • Low bar feedback makes it difficult to feel where the kite is.
