Are you a snowkiter or want to learn to ski or snowboard across powdery fields using the power of wind? Well, now is your chance, the Sierra Snowkite Center operated by North American Snowkite champ, Tyler Brownis having thier Grand Opening at the base of Sugar Bowl resort on Donner Summit.
First timers will learn the basics of kite flying in preparation for their exciting first rides across snow.
Intermediate to advanced riders will enjoy freeride, backcountry pro clinics put on by west coast snowkite pioneers Tyler Brown and Aaron Sales.
Clinics will be offered on snow and discussions will also continue at the lodge discussing riding in mountain terrain, tips and tricks for dressing, adding a climbing harness to your system, what to pack in your day pack and how to access the best terrain in your local mountains.
No wind, no problem! Skiing and snowboarding is offered at Sugar Bowl at a reduced price for two days. The Snowkite Center’s terrain is visible from the lift so if the wind picks up, kites in the sky will be your queue to get ready to ride.
The Sierra snowkite center have also teamed up with Woodward Tahoe, a trampoline training facility on Donner summit where you can flip and spin like pros into the foam pits. And if you dare, strap on the snowboard or skis with wheels and launch off the 8 foot kicker into the pool of foam.
