IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization) announced today that its US Kiteboarding insurance had been reestablished and restructured with no premium increase as well as improved coverage and discounts. IKO in partnership with Sportsinsurance.com has made it possible for IKO Riders, Instructors, and Kite Schools to have peace of mind knowing that they have the best possible coverage at the best possible rates.

“Kiteboard insurance is a must if you are going to ride, teach, or operate a kite school. Just one accident can knock a school or instructor out of business, as well as bring grave responsibility to a rider should he cause harm to another or their property accidentally,” declared Frédéric Béné, IKO’s president, co-founder and avid kiteboarder. “At the IKO, we push safety standards and make safety our number one priority. Insurance coverage while practicing meets the safety requirements set forth by the IKO, as insurance protects our members and those around them.”

US IKO Kiteboard Riders, Instructors, and Schools can use the IKO online feature to apply for the revamped insurance policy. The new policies are available for the same price as last year with no increase in premiums. Riders get the same benefits with improved accidental death and dismemberment coverage, which has a coverage increase from $5,000 to $10,000 USD. IKO Schools benefit from this increase as well, and new USA IKO Affiliating Schools receive 10% discount off premiums if they apply to Sportsinsurance through the IKO. Furthermore, existing IKO Affiliates or Affiliating Centers who already use Sportsinsurance can now receive 5% off existing premiums.

US Kiteboarding insurance was interrupted briefly while the IKO and Sportsinsurance.com worked relentlessly to come up with a policy that honors the commitment IKO members make by first being an IKO Member, and second, by adhering to all the IKO Safety Standards.  “Our members are not sloppy in their practice. They are some of the most responsible sportsmen out there,” professed Jessica Chauvin, IKO’s marketing coordinator. “When you see someone wearing the IKO brand, you can be assured that person is well-trained in the highest Safety Standards available.”
