Festival del Viento is the biggest freestyle event in Mexico. It is held in Bucerias, Nayarit which is just 30 minutes from Puerto Vallarta. This year the dates will be May 18-20. There will be riders from every state like Colima, Baja, Merida, Sinaloa and Jalisco. The event is focused on freestyle but also there will be a downwind slalom from La Cruz de Huanacaxtle to Bucerias which is a 6 Km distance and a long distance race from Bucerias-La Cruz-Bucerias.
In its third year, May is the best month for kiteboarding and the water is warm. Conditions are choppy with winds normally in the 20 knot range.
