The TKB team began arriving in La Ventana yesterday, and today we were greeting with perfect kiteboarding weather. A calm morning quickly turned into a windy day, with the wind line working its way to the beach by around 10:00 am this morning. By mid afternoon the wind had built to around 30 knots, giving our test team the perfect opportunity to get out and ride some of the latest gear from Slingshot, Felxifoil, and F-One.

After a morning session, we fueled up at the fantastic new restaurant at Ventana Windsports, Coyas, and were back on the water until we could take no more. It’s tough work, but someone has to do it. More brands will be tested in the coming days…

Also today was No Mas Basura (No More Trash), an annual trash pickup event here in the La Ventana/El Sargento area. After a rousing speech from the local mayor, teams of local school children along with local, American, and Canadian volunteers spread out throughout the area to work together to collect trash. A total of 10.5 tons of trash was collected in one morning of work!

Here’s a little more info about No Mas Basura:

No Mas Basura – Gracias

Thank you to everyone who helped pick up trash for our second annual No Mas Basura Clean Up Day. The total is in: 10.5 tons of trash were collected! Thats 3.5 less than last year which is exactly our goal – less trash.

Thank you to all volunteers! All five schools and teachers participated,  a ZOFEMAT crew cleaned the beaches, servicios publicos of La Paz cleaned the highway, and lots of important people cleaned up their own areas around town- Subdelegado (Mayor) Osvaldo gave a speech that included a plea  for everyone to stop burning trash at the dump.  Special thanks to all who brought vehicles and helped organize groups of kids. The hats are off  to the trash leader heroes Corey, Padre David, Anna, Jimena, and Alin!
