This morning, twelve brave people (11 men and one woman) loaded into three pangas and were taken the 11 miles to Isla Cerralvo for the first annual Paddle Royal back to La Ventana. After a little over two hours on the water, the first finisher hit the beach in front of Baja Joe’s. The rest of the paddlers made it in soon after, each one being cheered by the crowd as they ran up the beach.

As the SUP crossing contestants were finishing, children from the local schools put on dance performance as a thanks for the support they get throughout the year from the funds raised by this event.

Today was also the first day of the La Ventana KiteXpo, and the wind showed up despite an uninspiring forecast. Tons of riders were able to get out on the latest 2010 kiteboarding gear from the many manufacturers that set up here on the beach.

SUP PADDLE ROYALE WINNERS
1) KIWI FIELDS – San Diego USA
2) Jason Maartense – Canada
